HealthMatters™ Program

About the workshop

The HealtherMatters™ Program is a 36 session workshop with an emphasis on exercise and nutrition. Through health education activities, this workshop can help participants become stronger and healthier, improve self-advocacy skills and confidence, and connect with peers. Session topics include: exercise, nutrition,  self-advocacy skills and confidence.

Who should take the workshop

The program was initially designed for people with developmental disabilities but has also been used with high school students, transition age adolescents, and older adults with various physical, psychological, and intellectual disabilities. It is particularly beneficial for people with limited or inaccurate knowledge about the body and the causes of disease.
