Spectrum Generations’ President and CEO Gerry Queally was the guest on Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce’s “Chamber Chatter” July 26 speaking about a unique pilot effort and partnership aimed to increase access to health and social services and reduce health disparities within Maine’s rural communities.
The Rural-Community Health Improvement Project is a statewide initiative which will partner Healthy Living for ME with Maine CDC, HealthReach and MaineGeneral Health systems, along with 13 to 15 community-based organizations, to improve health outcomes of rural Mainers.
According to Queally, the initial project will concentrate on Somerset and Kennebec Counties with an eye to replicate the model statewide in the future. Phase one of the effort is a planning process which will involve community engagement, data analysis, and the development of a comprehensive community health improvement plan.
Queally said the program will also suppport healthy eating, falls prevention, and how to live with a chronic disease. Development of Phase two will involve building out and implementing the designed network.
